How does RF Microneedling differ from other "standard microneedling" treatments?
Standard Microneedling: Microneedling is a common treatment, but oftentimes it is only performed using a small device that looks like a wand or a pen. That device is either rolled or stamped over your target areas, creating tiny micro-injuries or pinpricks in the skin. Standard microneedling tends to be a more superficial treatment, with less options for customization and can be a little more damaging to the surface of the skin leading to a greater period of visual downtime. At Iowa Face + Body, we do not offer this treatment because we are invested in delivering only the best treatment technologies to our clients, which is why we use Secret RF for all of our Microneedling procedures.
RF Microneedling: Unlike standard microneedling methods, Secret RF is controlled by an exceptionally advanced computer system that allows our highly trained nurse providers to completely customize every aspect of your treatment including depth, intensity, speed and amount of radio-frequency to meet your unique treatment needs. Scar & Stretch Mark treatments typically range between $350-$650. Our face treatments start at $750, with several options available that reduce your cost per treatment when purchased in packages. RF Microneedling is not limited to any one area of the body, so during your consultation, we will discuss your desired treatment area, specific concerns, answer all of your questions and estimate the cost of your treatment.
How many RF Microneedling sessions will I need?
On average, patients tend to see their best results when 3 – 4 treatments are performed about a month apart. However, everyone's needs get assessed individually as we take into consideration different skin types and complexion concerns. At your consultation, we perform a thorough evaluation of your skin and discuss the results you're looking for. This allows us to determine the best treatment technique and the number of sessions that will most realistically address your concerns.
How long do the results of my treatments last?
Results vary based on the individual. Scar and stretch mark treatments can be everlasting or until the skin changes creating new concerns. Whereas with anti-aging treatments, we can typically address your immediate concerns with a series of up to 3 - 4 treatments before transitioning you into "maintenance treatments" which are typically recommended once every 12-18 months. We will be able to make these types of recommendations when we meet with you on an individual basis at your initial consultation and through the duration of your treatments with us.
What are the advantages of RF microneedling over other treatments?
RF microneedling can be performed on virtually any area of the body and is safe and effective for most clients. RF Microneedling provides remarkable improvements with little to no downtime and is a welcome alternative to a facelift or body lift surgery. Here at Iowa Face + Body we offer a variety of Non-Surgical solutions, although RF Microneedling can also help you revitalize the overall appearance of your skin after a surgical lift.
Is RF Microneedling painful?
We apply a numbing cream before all of our RF Microneedling treatments so that any discomfort associated with the treatment is only minimal. We ensure you are still comfortable enough to maintain conversation throughout your treatment and we will continue to check in with you regarding your comfort level through the duration of the procedure. It is possible that you may feel mild discomfort briefly as the numbing cream wears off and while your skin heals. Your skin may look and feel like it has experienced a mild sunburn after your treatment, but in most cases any redness or swelling subsides by the end of the day, allowing you to resume normal activities immediately, including the use of makeup the very next morning.
Can I combine other treatments with RF Microneedling?
Yes! You can upgrade any of your RF Microneedling treatments to incorporate PRP, often coined as the "Vampire Facial". This is when we take a quick blood draw at the beginning of your appointment and spin it down in our lab to create your very own "Super Serum" using your body's very own platelet-rich-plasma. PRP is known to enhance collagen and elastin production, so when used in conjunction with your treatment we will layer it on the skin allowing the PRP to get pulled down into the deeper layers of the skin with the microneedles.
You might also consider rotating your RF Microneedling sessions with Chemical Peels or supplementing your treatment with Botox or Dermal Filler. During your initial appointment, we will discuss your desired outcomes before suggesting pairing RF Microneedling with any of our other procedures.
